Administrative Reorganization, Phase II:
Details and Outcomes

Dear Colleagues,
A couple of weeks ago, we shared information about actions taken as part of the reorganization of Finance and Operations, which aimed to address some budgetary challenges and realize efficiencies in the two areas. As part of that effort, the two units were combined as the Division of Finance and Administration. This revamped organizational structure will enable a streamlined approach to managing resources across the various units and stakeholders. It allows us to align staffing, meet operational requirements, and achieve budget savings.
Below is the new organizational chart for the leadership of the Division of Finance and Administration (click chart to view a larger image):

Included in this reorganization:
-
The Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity has been renamed the Office of Access and Compliance. In addition to the compliance (sexual harassment and discrimination complaint investigations, Title IX, Title VI, Title VII complaints, and accommodations), this office will focus on promoting health science careers and opportunities to the K-12 market.
-
Two shared service models have been created to increase efficiency and effectiveness:
- Administrative Pool – to assist and provide support for executive and senior level leadership in Finance and Administration and the Chancellor's Office
-
Central Business Office – to provide necessary support in finance and human resources functions to Finance and Administration and the Chancellor's Office
-
Facilities eliminated several positions to reorganize the department. To ensure effective oversight of the reorganized operations, several positions are currently being recruited to support HVAC, preventive maintenance, and facility service manager tasks.
-
Information Technology Services has restructured to take advantage of the consolidated financial and human resource function support in the newly created Central Business Office. Additionally, the CIO position, currently vacant, is being eliminated with the duties of the position distributed and assumed by the Executive Vice Chancellor, Associate Vice Chancellor and IT Chief of Staff (Vikki Massey), and Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief Technology and Information Security Officer (Ammar Ammar).
We recognize that these types of changes are not easy, even if you are not directly impacted by the organizational adjustments. We appreciate your support and patience as we work through this transition. Please do not hesitate to reach out to evc@uthsc.edu if you have any questions or concerns about the reorganization.
