A member of the faculty since 1992, Alex Heckert, professor of sociology, was named IUP’s 2025-26 Distinguished University Professor. He is nationally known for his research on mental health and public health issues, including domestic violence and addiction. Learn more about him and his research plans for the coming year.

On Thursday, the IUP Council of Trustees recognized its student member of the last two years, Shagufta Haque, for her service. Learn more about this Cook Honors College member and new graduate of the Economics Honors and Finance bachelor’s degree programs.
