Trajectory | BNIM Symposium

BNIM gathered together for our 2025 Symposium this past fall, an annual event dedicated to connecting as employee-owners to learn, share ideas, collaborate, and envision the future of our work and design.

This symposium's theme of Trajectory, representing both a path in motion and a shared direction, embodies the spirit of our ongoing practice transformation at BNIM.

Since becoming an employee-owned design company, BNIM has designed our new practice model to best serve our clients and communities by empowering each of us as employee owners to put our core purpose and values into practice. It's through this collaborative ecosystem that we bring a collective commitment to shared ownership, accountability, creative collaboration, and a future-ready mindset to make our practice better each day.

We are excited to continue our shared trajectory at BNIM — to move forward with momentum and inspiration as we ask ourselves, how will we shape what comes next?

Looking Ahead — BNIM projects in 2026

From a nature-immersed experiential kitchen inspiring visitors to lead nourishing lifestyles, to an adaptive reuse initiative transforming a historic elementary school into high-quality affordable housing, to a welcoming new airport terminal enhancing passenger experiences and regional identity — exciting work is happening across our design studios at BNIM.

As we kick off 2026, we’re highlighting a handful of our projects, both in design and nearing completion, that are creating positive impact for our clients and the communities they serve.

In a new blog post, Springfield Art Museum Director Nick Nelson and BNIM Principal Hans Nettelblad share the story of the Springfield Art Museum, now beginning its second phase of design, as it has navigated the crosscurrents of societal change and the subsequent emerging needs of arts environments to meet the moment — guided by collaborative dialogue, community trust-building, and a lens of equity, access, and resilience.
