Thursday, May 28: Cocktails & Construction |
We heard you—a hard hats and happy hour concept was a hit, so we’re bringing it back for May.
Building on our original Coffee & Construction events, neighbors and residents are invited to stop by for a casual drop-in session to enjoy a cocktail, sample a special Vanderbilt brew, and connect directly with James Kellerhouse and the campus project management team.
These sessions offer brief construction updates, a chance to ask questions, a look ahead at upcoming milestones, and an open space for conversation about campus progress and plans.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 28, at 5 p.m. in Moore 1W. Please enter campus at 429 W 20th Street. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.

Where the grass is greener |
After the stormwater infrastructure upgrades, we’re so happy to see that the east side of campus is beginning to look green again!
We can’t wait to enjoy campus with you in the coming months.

The community can expect ongoing worker presence from Tuesday through Saturday. Saturday will remain an eight-hour workday; days may extend by up to two additional hours through Friday.
- Trucks are expected throughout the week; on Tuesday, concrete will be brought onto campus. Impacts will be similar to prior weeks. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed.

- Optical monitoring is expected twice a week. Workers will be outside and around campus surveying; no cameras or photos will be used.
- Temporary staging of construction materials, equipment and storage sheds remains on the lawn areas of The Close and along West 21st Street.
|
Main drainage system upgrades are in progress with impacts on the West 21st Street sidewalk and parking access.
|
- Noise impact: Moderate noise levels.
- Spatial impact: Sidewalk access on West 21st Street, on the far east and far west sides of campus near 10th Avenue, is expected to be temporarily affected by drainage system updates.

|
- Noise impact: Steady moderate noise levels with equipment use.
- Spatial impact: The south lane of 21st Street will remain closed for several weeks.
- FYI: The north lane of 21st Street will remain open to maintain traffic flow in the area. No parking will be available on either side of the street for the duration of the project. This allows the contractor to work on utilities in the area to make a connection from the street to the buildings.
