NOVEMBER 2023 NEWSLETTER
Dear Parent,

On Friday, October 6, St. Vincent de Paul School Community held its 28th annual SPREE dinner and auction. The night was a memorable night of “coming together” to enjoy good food, great conversation, and an opportunity to support our school and parish. We appreciate the support of those in attendance, along those who could not attend but supported SPREE in many ways.
A very special thank you to Jamie and Jeff Eikmeier, Jacque and Jess Kroenke, Courtney and Mark McGuire, Tara and Mike Sands as the 2023 SPREE General Chairs, and Nancy Maiers, SPREE Project Manager. They all went above and beyond to make this event happen, along with hundreds of volunteers. Everyone’s commitment is a testimony that the St. Vincent de Paul community remains strong and faithful.

Thank you to all who donated to our Fund-An-Item. The proceeds from this year’s Fund-An-Item will go to a new scoreboard in the gym. The present scoreboard is the original and in much need of an update. Thank you for your support of this project. We went a little over our goal of $50,000.00 the night of SPREE. Prior to that night, money was donated by the St. Vincent de Paul Men’s Club and the Sports Board. We appreciate the ongoing support of these two groups!

In addition, a very, very special thank you to the grandparents of our students! They continually support our school in so many ways, and we cannot begin to express our appreciation for their ongoing support with this project and their grandchildren. We all have some very special people supporting and helping us. Thank you!

We look forward to seeing everyone at Conferences. Thank you again for your support and kindness.
Happy November!
Barbara A. Marchese, Principal

The week of November 6-12 is National Vocations Awareness Week.
During this week, classrooms will select activities for their grade level from the Vocations Lessons provided by the USCCB.

Other activities for students include creating and sending cards/letters to our Archdiocesan Seminarians viewing the videos “Fishers of Men” and “For Love Alone.” Every homeroom has been assigned a seminarian to contact.

Please pray in a special way for all men and women who have chosen a religious life or are considering a vocation.

First Friday Adoration
Adoration will be offered on four Fridays this year in the church,  December 1, March 1, April 5, and May 3. Adoration will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon
Progress Reports
Progress Reports for students in grades K-2 will be sent home with the students on Tuesday, November 21. Please review this report with your child, sign it and return it to the homeroom teacher.

Parents of students in grades 3-8 can access student grades through PowerSchool. Teachers in grades 3-8 update PowerSchool grades every 2 weeks. Hard copies of Progress Reports are not sent home with students in grades 3-8.

Inclement weather

With the cold weather and SNOW upon us, we want to remind you about the expectations for winter apparel at recess time. For all the students in Grades K-8, winter coats, gloves or mittens, and something to cover the head are important. In the event of inclement weather, please listen to radio station KFAB (1110 AM) or any local TV station for school closing information. St. Vincent de Paul follows the decision made by Omaha Catholic Schools.
Also, if sending your female students with leggings, please remember that leggings must extend to the ankle bone. Socks must be worn and leggings should not be worn as pants.
Thanksgiving Vacation
Thanksgiving vacation begins Tuesday, November 21 at 3:15 P.M. Classes resume Monday, November 27. We pray that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. This year we have so much to be thankful for as a school community. We are very thankful for our students and families. Happy Thanksgiving!
