Parish Office Closure: The Parish Office will be closed on Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.
Sunday Worship: Due to ongoing organ-related work in the Church, there will be several changes to our pattern of worship on Sunday, June 22. The 8:00 a.m. Eucharist will take place in the Chapel of Saint Jude. The 9:00 a.m. Eucharist will move to its summertime location in the Chapel Garden. The 11:15 a.m. liturgy (Morning Prayer) will take place in the C. Boyden Gray Auditorium (Linthicum Hall / Second Floor). The 5:00 p.m. Eucharist will take place in the Chapel of Saint Jude as usual. We thank you for your patience and spirit of flexibility as preparation for the installation of the new sounds systems and organ continues.
Liturgical Music at Christ Church: The parish’s former organ, which served the liturgical and musical needs of Christ Church for more than 25 years, was removed from the nave and transported to its new home outside of Philadelphia on Monday, May 19. During the months of June and July, two new sound systems – speech reinforcement and acoustical enhancement –as well as a new organ, a collaboration between R. A. Colby, Inc. of Johnson City, Tennessee and Walker Technical Company of Center Valley, Pennsylvania, will be installed. In the meantime, congregational singing will be led by a grand piano; the Choir of Christ Church will sing unaccompanied psalms and anthems. Questions? Contact Organist and Choirmaster Thomas Smith.
Morning Prayer Officiants Needed: In an attempt to sustain public recitation of the Daily Office throughout the summer months, we are currently seeking additional volunteers to officiate at the brief, but beautiful service of Morning Prayer, which takes place Monday through Friday, at 8:00 a.m., in the Chapel of Saint Jude. Volunteers will be asked to serve no more than once each week. Training will be provided. For more information, contact the Rector.

Vacation Bible School: Calling all children ages 3 through 11! This year’s Vacation Bible School, a unique opportunity to deepen faith and friendship, will take place Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1, at Christ Church. It will be led by Youth and Families Minister Chrissy Casey along with a team of dedicated volunteer counselors. Campers will explore the life and lessons of Jesus through Bible study, prayer, song, art, science, and play. Daily activities will center on The Big Way of Love for Kids, a resource developed by the Episcopal Church in partnership with Forward Movement. Episcopal Night at the Ballpark: Anglicans in the Outfield: Batter up, Christ Church Georgetown! On Friday, July 18, at 6:45 p.m., all parishioners, along with their guests, are invited to an evening of fellowship and fun under the stadium lights. Bite-sized Bible Study: Join fellow parents of nursery and Sunday School-aged children for a team-led, 30-minute exploration of the Book of Proverbs. The group gathers on Sundays, at 10:15 a.m., in the Memorial Room. Nursery care for infants and toddlers, as well as supervised, age-appropriate activities for older children, is provided in the Nursery and Room 105. Opportunities for Summertime Service in the Wider Community:
Georgetown Ministry Center (GMC): Summer is a critical period for GMC, a longtime parish mission partner. As the temperature rises, so does the need for essential items such as t-shirts, underwear, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. With your help, GMC can continue to provide comfort, relief, and dignity during Washington’s muggiest months. Additionally, volunteers are needed to support daily operations – an excellent way for students to fulfill community service hours. To sign up, click here.
Juneteenth in Georgetown: On Thursday, June 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., all are invited to observe Juneteenth through participation in educational opportunities and acts of service at the Mount Zion and Female Union Band Society cemeteries, Washington’s oldest remaining intact Black burial grounds. REACT DC: Begun in September 2021, REACT DC seeks to assist Afghan allies through innovative resettlement support operations. Parishioners have the opportunity to assist families through efforts such as meeting families at the airport, transporting them to their lodging, assisting with grocery runs, and contributing to REACT’s resettlement wishlist. Thrift Shop: The Christ Church Thrift Shop, located on the lower level of Linthicum Hall, is open each Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (through June 25). Come, peruse our extensive collection of Spring clothing, antiques, and other household items. All proceeds benefit local charitable organizations. Questions? Contact parishioner Lucy Cannon.
Altar Flowers: If you would like to make a contribution to help offset the cost of the flowers that will adorn the altar on a particular Sunday or feast day, contact the Parish Office. The Flower Guild accepts contributions in memory of the departed, in celebration of births, and in thanksgiving for the reception of Christian sacraments. Contributions marking private secular celebrations are welcome, but they will not be acknowledged in service leaflets or the Prayers of the People. In such cases, donors are encouraged to let loved ones know of their contribution with a greeting card. The suggested donation is $100.
