🍂 Leaf Collection Update

Due to warm temperatures extending late into the fall season, leaves fell later than usual this year. Two heavy snowstorms and freezing temperatures followed, causing leaves to freeze into the snow and preventing leaf collection from proceeding.

Fortunately, recent rain and warmer temperatures have allowed crews to resume leaf collection for a short time.

CURRENT SCHEDULE

Public Works crews will continue to collect leaves this weekend and into early next week to finish areas shown on the collection map below.

Area to be completed: South of Howard Street, North of Church Street, North of Dempster Street west of Skokie Boulevard

Map created 12/26/25 at 12 p.m.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

If your street is marked “completed” on the map:

  • Do not rake or blow more leaves into the street.

If your street is not yet completed:

  • You may continue to rake or blow leaves into the street until crews reach your street.
  • Avoid parking on or near leaf piles.
  • Move vehicles into a driveway or garage. Crews need about two car lengths of clear space to work safely.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to complete leaf collection safely and efficiently.

Expanded Christmas Tree & Leaf Pickup

In addition, the Village has expanded the Christmas Tree Collection Program to also collect bagged leaves in all areas of the Village.

How it works:

  • Place leaves in paper yard waste bags.
  • Set bags at your regular yard waste pickup location.
  • Collection runs January 5 through January 16.
  • There is no set pickup day; crews will collect as they move through routes.
