Students in UW-Whitewater’s Undergraduate Research, Innovative, and Creative Activities (URICA) were busy this spring, presenting on campus and at statewide and national conferences. Emma Aleckson (pictured), a communication sciences and disorders major from Lake Villa, Illinois, and independent living assistant for the LIFE program, was one of 20 students to present at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, presenting “Exploring Long-Term Outcomes in an Inclusive Post-Secondary Transition Program” with mentor Sara Athorp, associate director of the LIFE program. UW-Whitewater’s Chamber Singers (in photo) and Vocal Jazz ensemble were highlighted in The Red ‘N’ Green, Berlin High School’s student news publication, after performing for the high school’s music students as part of a three-day performance tour around Wisconsin in March. Music ensembles »

UW-Whitewater hosted the sixth annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Campus Walk on Saturday, April 11, raising more than $15,000 for the foundation. Kaylee Kramer, president of Active Minds and an English literature and language arts education major from Rockford, Illinois, coordinated the walk in partnership with University Health and Counseling Services, Human Resources, The Sweet Spot Café, and Toppers Pizza. Warhawk earns induction into Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame
|
John Boie, senior academic advisor in the Academic Advising and Exploration Center, will be inducted into the Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame on July 8. Boie is a UW-Whitewater alum, former member of the Warhawk men’s wheelchair basketball team, and Paralympic gold medalist. He will rejoin Team USA this summer for the 2026 IWBF World Championships in Ottawa along with Jake Williams, head men’s wheelchair basketball coach and fellow UWW alum, AJ Fitzpatrick, a human performance major from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and UWW alums Talen Jourdan and Jeromie Meyer.
