The UW-Whitewater Department of Music once again bestowed its annual gift of music and beauty to the campus and surrounding community on Saturday, Dec. 2. The concert, held in the Young Auditorium, raises funds for music scholarships as it celebrates the season.

Barbara Kreisman selected as December commencement speaker |
Since earning a Bachelor of Science in journalism and a minor in English in 1972, she has served in professional roles at Dell Computer, where she worked for 12 years in strategic human resources, organizational development and staffing, and in faculty and leadership roles at the University of Denver, where she spent more than 17 years as associate dean of the Executive MBA Program for the Daniels College of Business. She will share her inspiring story at the December commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16.

A native of Cameroon, Achu will be receiving his third degree from UW-Whitewater, completing an educational path that includes a BBA in accounting in 2010 , an MBA in project management in 2020 and a doctorate of business administration, or DBA, in 2023. He joins May 2023 graduate Eric Barber as one of two Warhawks in the school’s history to earn a DBA and two other degrees from UW-Whitewater. He is currently North American comptroller for Kerry Group, a public food company headquartered in Ireland. He will share his story at the December commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Kudos to University Health and Counseling Services, which was recognized by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care for its commitment to high-quality care. The accreditation includes a review of clinical and administrative practices and processes, risk management, quality improvement and policies. The recognition is one that only a small percentage of college centers obtain.
Kudos to UC Graphics and Marketing for a strong showing at the Association of College Unions International Region V Graphics Competition. UW-Whitewater won four categories: video, digital campaigns, multi-page publications, and small-scale print. Region V includes schools in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Manitoba (Canada). Read more »
Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, who co-authored an article, “Perception of Human Characteristics in an AI Chatbot Acting as On-the-Job Coach,” published in the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).
Kudos to Aleah Grundahl on being named the Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week in women’s basketball by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for November 20-26, 2023. Grundahl led UW-Whitewater to two road wins during the week, averaging 27 points and 11 rebounds in just over 36 minutes per outing. Read more »
Kudos to Peyton Nichols and Cooper Re of the Warhawk men’s soccer team on being named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team for the 2023 season. Nichols was named to the USC Region IX Second Team and Re was named to the USC Region IX Third Team. The Warhawks finished the 2023 Season with a 13-1-5 record, the best record in program history, which dates to 1978. Read more »

#6 Women’s Basketball showcases Wheaton |
Women’s basketball takes on Wheaton College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, in Kachel Gymnasium in the Williams Center. The last matchup took place nine years ago on Dec. 10, 2014, with a final score of 66-63 in a victory for the Warhawks. If not able to attend, the game will be streamed live on the WIAC Network.

Series room requests for spring 2024 |
The University Center Reservations Office is now accepting series (recurring) event requests for the spring 2024 semester. Series reservations are meetings that occur weekly, bi-weekly, or regularly in the University Center, Esker, or general access classroom. These requests do not include large or single-occurrence events. The priority deadline is Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023.

If you’re not feeling well and are too sick to come to a dining hall, we’ve got you covered. Students who are ill can have someone else pick up a meal for them and bring it back to the residence halls. Fill out an inquiry form from Dining Services 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. One sick meal = one lunch meal swipe, one MyMeal, or $8.35 Dining Dollars.

Do you have extra Dining Dollars on your account as the semester comes to a close? Bulk orders are available for purchase starting Monday, Dec. 4, at noon. Forms are available for pickup at Prairie Street Market, Drumlin Sandwich Shop and Willie’s. Your Dining Dollars will be charged at the time you turn in your order. Forms must be dropped off at the store you’re ordering from no later than noon on Friday, Dec. 8. Once turned in, a dining manager will reach out to you for pickup details.
