Located minutes from charming downtown Cartersville in Bartow County, Georgia, Barnsley Resort has always evoked the charm of a Southern country estate. Now, that aesthetic influences even the window treatments and wall art. This fall, the historic property debuts thirty-nine newly renovated cottages, which include a total of eighty-four guest rooms and suites, all dreamed up by the renowned interior designer Charlotte Lucas. Known for her use of bold colors and whimsical details, Lucas selected vibrant patterns and soft touches inspired by a heritage color palette and the flora and fauna of the region. Each cottage features design elements reflecting the resort’s pastimes; think hunting dog patterns on draperies and artwork celebrating Barnsley’s horseback riding traditions.
In addition to the cottage updates, Barnsley has also renovated its Biergarten, adding an outdoor fireplace and a custom-built smoker. (The space will open in late autumn.) And to kick off quail season, the Beretta Shooting Grounds are debuting helice—a shotgun sport that mimics hunting wild birds—alongside a redesigned sporting clays course. Guests can get their first look at these refreshed offerings during the Swine & Wine Weekend (October 25–26) featuring Nashville’s Peg Leg Porker and Prisoner Wine Company.
