Dear St. Edward’s University Community,
I hope spring break brought you rest and renewed energy. Since we shared the announcement
of the presidential transition last month, many of you — faculty, staff, students, and alumni —
have reached out with thoughtful questions about the interim search process and what lies
ahead for St. Edward’s University. We are grateful for your engagement and the care you
continue to show for our University. Your perspectives have been insightful, and your input has
been critical in informing the process.
We are organizing your questions into key themes and posting clear responses to the FAQ
for updates. You may also continue to send questions to transition@stedwards.edu or connect
directly with your respective shared governance leaders listed on the page.
Guided by your input, our search partner, AGB Search, has developed a position profile and is
actively identifying experienced higher education leaders who can steward the institution with
confidence and clarity during this important period. The Executive Committee of the Board of
Trustees will review vetted candidates and, by the end of April, invite finalists to campus for
conversations with leaders of shared governance groups and others. We expect to announce
the Interim President in early May, with the appointment beginning in June. This individual will serve alongside President Fuentes during a one-month transition period and continue in the role for up to 2 years.
Throughout this process, our focus remains steady: to ensure continuity of leadership, sustain
institutional momentum, and position St. Edward’s University to move forward with strength,
purpose, and unity.
Thank you for the commitment and care you continue to bring to this moment. Together, we
are carrying forward a university shaped by faith, strengthened by community, and prepared
for what comes next.
