CC Hillel invites students to a special Rosh Hashanah service at Mountain Minyan in the mountains above Woodland Park on Saturday, Sept. 12. The group will leave campus in the morning and return in the early afternoon.

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown Friday, Sept. 11, and Yom Kippur begins at sundown Sunday, Sept. 20. Students planning to attend Yom Kippur services on Monday, Sept. 21, should reach out to their Block 2 professor as soon as possible to make accommodations.

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. in Packard Hall, the CC Music Department presents distinguished visiting composer Avner Dorman, whose work draws on a wide range of cultural and historical influences. The program includes the world premiere of Dorman’s Suite Dérivée, performed by Duo Quattro Mani, Susan Grace and Steven Beck, along with additional works featuring CC faculty and guest musicians Colin McAllister, Fiona Digney, Adam Gang, Pam Diaz, and Zoe Weiss.

The Downtown Partnership Annual Breakfast returns next Friday, Sept. 18, from 7:15-9 a.m. at Ed Robson Arena. The annual community event will feature stories of Downtown achievements, recognition of this year’s Downtown Stars, remarks from Mayor Yemi Mobolade, and a look at what’s ahead for Colorado Springs’ city center.

Approximately 750 guests are expected to attend and will park in Robson Garage, so members of the CC community should anticipate increased traffic in the area that morning.

Colorado College’s commitment to health and wellness didn’t begin with a new program or a strategic plan. It began with students asking the College to do more.

In the aftermath of student deaths during the pandemic, students called for changes that would better support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the campus community. Their advocacy helped spark what has become the Health and Wellness Initiative, a broad effort focused on helping students, faculty, and staff build healthier, more balanced lives.

On Friday, Sept. 18, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center, Sylvan Goldberg, Associate Professor & Associate Chair of English, will explore writer and illustrator Mary Hallock Foote’s connections to Colorado’s mining communities and the inspiration she found for her fiction in the mines around Leadville.

Part of the FAC’s Libation Lectures series, the evening includes the themed cocktail “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Tickets are $26, or $20 for FAC members, and include the first drink.
