His visit to Colgate was in conjunction with a series of events, including a lecture on November 13, a symposium on November 15, and a pop-up exhibition of his woodcut prints (艺术的密码, The Code of Art).

At the workshop, Yang gave a presentation on the history of woodcut printmaking, how it has changed throughout its long history in China, and how it has spread to neighboring countries and throughout the world. The presentation was translated into English with the help of EALL Professor John Crespi. Students Explore Beyond Colgate

Colgate visits Cornell Univeristy

On Saturday, November 2nd, Colgate’s South Asian Cultural Club (SACC) sponsored a weekend trip to Cornell University to watch their annual Diya Jale performances. Diya Jale is the Cornell Society for India’s biggest music and dance festival of the year. The show included incredible performances from several Cornell dance groups, many of which were fully made up of South Asian members and featured traditional dance styles from various parts of the region. Musical instrument performances and vocal performances comprised the rest of the student performances. The last act of the show featured the headlining act: comedian Paul Varghese, who has been seen on Comedy Central and Showtime and has opened for other comedians such as Dave Chapelle.

The SACC provided tickets for students, as well as rooms in the Statler Hotel for those who wanted to stay overnight. The following morning, comedian Paul Varghese hosted a meet-and-greet on campus for attendees of the show from the previous night.
