Summer Saturday hours continue this month—the Gleason is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays in July and August. Regular Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. resume after Labor Day.

Reading Challenges run through Saturday, August 26
Stop by the Library to pick up your Book Bingo sheet! We have Bingos for all ages from Preschool to Adult. We also have a Reading Raffle with some awesome prizes for students going into grades 1-8. See our website for more details or to download your Bingo sheet at home. Bingos, Blackouts, and raffle entries are due by 1pm on Saturday, August 26th, to claim your prizes.
STORYWALK® AT CARLISLE CENTER PARK
Tuesday, August 1–Saturday, August 12
Our StoryWalk® combines both our love of reading and the great outdoors. Peter H. Reynold's Say Something is on display from August 1st through August 12th on 14 stations along the wooded trail at the Carlisle Center Park. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the beauty of Center Park gardens, while reading and spending time together.
This StoryWalk® is sponsored by our wonderful Friends of the Gleason Public Library. Many thanks to the Carlisle Center Park for permitting us to place this StoryWalk® along their wooded trail.

PROFESSOR BUGMAN'S ARTHROPOD PETTING ZOO (WAITLIST)
Wednesday, August 2 | 1 p.m.

Join us as Professor Bugman introduces real arthropods including stick insects, leaf insects, desert beetles, giant millipedes, giant cockroaches, isopods, and a vinegaroon. Afterward you can create and draw your own creature with its own special adaptations. Recommended for ages 5-11. Registration is required, as space is limited.

STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER & PJ STORY TIME (WAITLIST)

Bring your stuffed animal for a special pajama story time at the Library! Wear your pajamas, listen to bedtime stories, and make a fun story time craft. Afterward, kiss them goodnight and leave your stuffed animal for the sleepover. Return the next day at 1 p.m. for your stuffed animal and hear all about their fun sleepover at the Gleason Public Library. We’ll watch a slide show of the antics your animals were up to during the night! Please bring one stuffed animal for this program. Registration is required as space is limited. Walk-ins will not be accommodated.
SUMMER PRESCHOOL STORY TIME
Friday, August 4 | 10:30 a.m.
Join us from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for a fun story time. This event is chock full of interactive stories, rhymes, fingerplays, songs and a small craft. Our story time program, designed for children ages 3 to 6, promotes reading readiness and early literacy skills. Registration is required.
KIDS CRAFTS ON THE LAWN
Join us for crafts on the Library Lawn! For ages 4 and up. All Crafts on the Lawn will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To sign up for your family’s time slot, email Jenn at childrens@gleasonlibrary.org. In case of inclement weather, craft may be moved inside or postponed.

NATURE CONNECTION STORY TIME
Thursday, August 10 | 10:30 a.m.
Join The Nature Connection as we explore plants and animals and connect with the world around us in new ways—all through nature-based stories and poems! During this monthly 45-minute program for 3–6-year-olds, we will read a seasonally appropriate story followed by a sensory engagement activity. Registration is required; please register for each session individually. This fun program is sponsored by the Susan Zielinski Natural Science Fund.

METALSMITHING WORKSHOP FOR TEENS: COPPER BOOKMARKS (WAITLIST)
Thursday, August 3 | 6 p.m.
Design and create your own copper bookmark at this workshop led by metalsmith Heather Beck! Learn about the structure of copper, how to create drawings in metal, and how to use letter stamps to create textures and words on the bookmarks. Stamp your name or your favorite quote, or even create a beautiful landscape design! All materials will be provided. This workshop is for students going into grades 6 through 12, and registration is required as space is limited.

TEEN WEEKEND READING KIT
Friday, August 18 | 10 a.m
Grab a kit that has everything you need for a book-lover's summer weekend. Each kit will include a random YA novel for you to keep (genres and reading/maturity levels will vary), a craft or activity, a snack, a little bookish accessory, and something to sip on. Registration is required to reserve your kit, and pickup will be Friday, August 18 through Monday, August 21. These kits are for grades 7-12. Please email Tahleen, the Teen Services Librarian, with any questions.

FUSED GLASS ADULT WORKSHOP (WAITLIST)
Thursday, August 17 | 7 p.m.
Create your own fused glass pendants or magnets with colorful pre-cut glass in this easy, fun class led by artist Deenie Pacik Giuliano. Deenie will take the unfinished pieces to her studio to fire them in her kiln. She will mail the finished pieces back.

We learned so much from Sarah last time she was with us, we just had to have her back! This time, we'll dig into practical tips to make your children's birthday parties and school lunches eco-friendly and low waste. We'll also be discussing how kids, families, and communities can be more sustainable as some towns/cities/states move towards free lunches for all. All ages are welcome!
A note from Sarah: A sustainable lifestyle with kids is not only possible, but critically important for our future and theirs. I hope that by sharing what works for our family, you are inspired to make changes in your daily life too!

DAZZLING DRAGONFLIES WITH THE MASS AUDUBON (VIRTUAL)

French tour guide Patrick Herpe returns to give viewers a live tour of Paris. He'll be walking while ZOOMing with us to show live video of Notre Dame, the Pont Neuf, the River Seine, Sainte-Chapelle, and more. He'll discuss the history of each Paris landmark he spotlights, and offer tips for traveling to Paris.

READING POETRY ANEW
Tuesday, August 1 | 10 a.m.
Dip or dive into the pleasures of poetry. This informal course, led by Mary Zoll, will include poetry readings and reactions, discussions of the patterns and techniques used in the poems, and perhaps some intellectual understanding of the poems. This class meets one Tuesday a month. Mary Zoll has published a few poems and read a multitude of poems.
