Dear Friends,

Whether carving a turkey on Thanksgiving, lighting the star on a Christmas tree, or lighting candles on a Kinara or Menorah, KLG wishes everyone a happy and healthy holiday season! May it be filled with warmth, light, spirit, friends, family, food, and fun.

Our KLG family loves to give back to our community, especially around the holidays, as it is a tough time for some. We shall donate this year to the JFCS Food Pantry, serving principally Mercer County residents.

Here is a beautiful modern poem about the meaning and promise of the Winter solstice upcoming:

THE SHORTEST DAY BY SUSAN COOPER

So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,
And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us—Listen!!
All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, feast, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.

The courts giveth and taketh away when it comes to employers reasonably accommodating your constitutional rights to freely exercise religious beliefs and practices. While there are broad protections “on paper”, nonetheless, as a practical matter and depending on the circumstances, an employer may be able to show they’ve done all they’re required to do under the law...

Divorce, death, and disability are things most folks don’t want to speak or think about. When we jump out of bed in the morning, we are energized to tackle things other than these issues. Yet most of us want order and predictability in our lives — and that’s what divorce coupled with estate, financial, and end-of-life planning give us...
