Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The year 2023 began with the launch of 150 Years of Engineering at Notre Dame. Spring wrapped up with the news that Notre Dame was selected to join the Association of American Universities (AAU).
Along the way, 5 engineering faculty won NSF CAREER or young investigator awards, 11 students were awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships, 2 faculty were elected AAAS lifetime fellows, and 8 staff in the College of Engineering were recognized for excellence.
We’re also proud that, in our sesquicentennial year, honors were conferred on Kristen Friday ‘23 (Computer Science and Engineering), Notre Dame’s Valedictorian; Dr. Howard Adams, inaugural executive director of the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science Inc. (GEM), who received an honorary doctorate; and Dr. Monica Regalbuto, Ph.D. ‘89 (Chemical Engineering), Director at the Idaho National Laboratory, who was awarded the 2023 Notre Dame Distinguished Graduate Alumni Award.

With my best wishes for the close of the 2022/23 academic year and the upcoming summer season.
