Tulane Researchers Develop First Handheld Device for Rapid, Noninvasive TB Testing

A new study by Tulane University School of Medicine researchers Brady Youngquist, a PhD candidate in the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program, and Tony Hu, PhD, the Weatherhead Presidential Chair in Biotechnology Innovation, introduced a handheld tuberculosis diagnostic device that can detect TB from blood, sputum or saliva in under an hour — no lab infrastructure required. The study was featured on the cover of the journal Science Translational Medicine. Learn more here.
