Professor served in military health care for 34 years

Retired Air Force Major General Kim Siniscalchi, now a professor of practice at UTA, served as a member of the White House Medical Unit for two presidents: George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Today, she serves a different group: the students and faculty of UTA’s College of Nursing of Health Innovation. As a member of the college’s senior leadership team, she works to advance new strategies, policies, and projects that enhance the college's academic mission.

Global Seal of Biliteracy
|
UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can take a test to potentially earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy certificate, a micro-credential that conveys language proficiency. Developing more plastic recycling methods
|
Despite consumer efforts to separate recyclables, most plastic bottles end up in landfills. Recycling methods to sort, shred, and remake plastics are limited to just two types of plastic. Shimadzu Distinguished Professor of Analytical Chemistry Kevin Schug and his UTA colleagues, graduate students Alexander Kaplitz and Niray Bhakta and undergraduate researchers Shane Marshall and Sadid Morshed, are working to develop new ways to recycle mixed plastics.

The Resilience, Integrity, Selflessness, and Excellence (RISE) Academy is a program out of UTA’s College of Business that helps students jumpstart their careers with internships, networking events, travel abroad opportunities, and development workshops. During RISE Academy’s inaugural Evening of Impact event, four students, Juan Gonzalez, Bryan Velasquez-Sanchez, Leslie Vega, and Anesah Collier, were recognized as representations of the acronym that makes up RISE.

CAPS offers in-person and telehealth counseling to students experiencing personal, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. | Submit a paper to Global Insight
|
UTA’s undergraduate academic journal Global Insight: A Journal of Critical Human Science and Culture is taking submissions for undergraduate papers. Global Insight is looking for papers between 3,000 and 4,000 words exploring social, political, ethical, cultural, and other timely topics in modern society. Global Insight is an open-access, peer-reviewed, undergraduate research journal co-published by UTA Libraries and the McDowell Center for Global Studies. Submit a paper by Sept. 1 for the fall 2024 issue.
