The Texas Historical Foundation is pleased to welcome Sharron Rogers as Chair of the Board of Directors. A lifelong advocate for Texas history and historic preservation, Sharron brings decades of leadership, civic service, and creative vision to the Foundation.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Sharron's passion for history began in the classroom, inspired by teachers who brought the stories of the American Revolution vividly to life. Her interest was further strengthened by her own family history, leading her to author The Earp Family in America, a 652-page family history that received recognition from the Maryland Historical Society.

During her service on the Grapevine City Council, Sharron championed numerous preservation initiatives. Among her proudest accomplishments was creating the program and financing mechanism to install fire sprinkler systems in Grapevine's historic buildings on Main Street. Shortly after the project was completed, the system successfully extinguished a fire in one of the historic buildings, preventing what could have been a devastating loss. The innovative program has since served as a model for other communities across the country.
Sharron has also been a dedicated supporter of Grapevine's Nash Farm, helping secure the last Stephen F. Austin Heritage Oak Tree for planting at the historic site.
Please join us in welcoming Sharron as Board Chair. We look forward to her leadership as the Foundation continues its mission to preserve the rich history of Texas.

During his term, THF invested $379,150 in preservation grants benefiting 35 projects across Texas, including $160,000 to support winners of the 2026 Michael C. Duda Preservation Awards. We are grateful for Eric's leadership and look forward to his continued service as Past Chair.

Kyrgyz Delegation Explores Preservation in DFW |
Texas preservation leaders met with Kyrgyz delegation at Dallas City Hall.
This month, the City of Dallas invited THF President & CEO David Preziosi to represent the Foundation in a Cultural Heritage Preservation and Celebration held as part of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. Representatives from the Kyrgyz Republic visited the Dallas–Fort Worth area to learn more about historic and cultural preservation in the United States, Texas, and Dallas.
Preziosi joined representatives from Dallas' Planning and Development Department in welcoming the visitors and their interpreters to Dallas City Hall. The group discussed historic preservation at the national level, including the regulations that protect historic resources. They also explored methods for protecting historic properties and archaeological resources in Texas, as well as the economic incentives and local preservation tools used in Dallas, including historic and conservation districts.
None of the visitors had previously traveled to the United States. During their visit, they toured historic sites and museums throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, visited archaeology and cultural heritage programs at SMU and UNT, sampled Texas cuisine, and attended the Fort Worth Stockyards Championship Rodeo before returning home to the Kyrgyz Republic.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and showcase Texas' leadership in historic preservation.
