Research Opportunies -- Active Minds OU

Research opportunity for Winter 2024 from the professors of Wellness and Health Promotion in the School of Health Sciences, and there are two exciting research opportunities available in Winter 2025.
Gaining research experience is an essential part of building your resume/curriculum vitae to make yourself a more attractive candidate for internships, graduate or professional school, or employers’ post-graduation.

If you are an EXS master's student, this project will involve registering for EXS 6995: Research in Exercise Science, as a part of your research requirement.
If you are an undergraduate student, you would register for WHP 4995: Directed Research in Wellness, CDS 4995, or EXS 4995.
The class time and date will be determined based on overall student availability.
The course will train students on all research procedures, and students will gain valuable experience in (1) questionnaire validity and reliability testing and direct observation research or (2) measuring the psychological and physiological responses to physical activity.

Some students who have taken this class previously and excelled in the class have been offered other opportunities to continue working with us on publications or conference presentations.
After watching this video, if you are interested in this unique opportunity, please get in touch with the Professors Eliese Brown and Kate Rougeau as soon as possible at elisebrown@oakland.edu or rougeau@oakland.edu since there are limited slots available.

Menteeship -- Podiatric Medicine Mentorship Program

Finding a mentor is a valuable step in your journey as a future podiatrist. Shadowing with a mentor will show you the day to day work of a DPM.
A letter of recommendation from a shadowing mentor is required to apply to many schools and colleges of podiatric medicine.

Mentorship is a great first step on the path to becoming a doctor of podiatric medicine.  This opportunity to follow a DPM at work allows you to see what kind of patients, what kind of issues, and what kind of environments you’ll encounter as a podiatrist.  You can ask questions about the podiatric medical school experience, work life balance, or anything else that you want to know more about the profession.Students who shadow a DPM are often allowed to watch actual patient procedures, discuss potential diagnoses with the physician or permitted to review diagnostic images with the DPM.

Medical School Fair -- Pre-Med Student Conference (MMED 2024)

Registration is now OPEN for the Michigan Pre-Med Student Conference!
