Welcome to the Fall 2023 Semester |
One of the goals of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering's Center for Student Success is to consolidate the emails and announcements sent to students. The Advising Bulletin will be shared monthly by the department to highlight important academic deadlines, department news, upcoming events, scholarship, career and internship opportunities and more. We hope you review the material and participate in many of the exciting initiatives and opportunities. We wish you a great start to the semester!

Engineering students looking for a unique hands-on summer paid internship in Naval ship design, the Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program (NREIP) at the Center for Innovation in Ship Design (CISD) may be just what they're looking for. Scholarship Opportunities |
|
|
SMART scholars, through the Department of Defense (DoD), offers scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 24 STEM disciplines. SMART scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends, and guaranteed employment with the DoD after graduation. The scholarship is due December 15. Additional information is available here.

Naval engineering junior and Sigma Phi Epsilon brother, Michael Monteleone, will be hosting an MA 221 exam 1 review on Sunday, September 17. This is a great way to prepare for the first exam of the semester.

The Stevens Environmental Engineering Professional Society (SEEPS) is hosting an Alumni Night on Wednesday, September 20 from 9-11pm. Thursday, October 19, Lancaster, PA: Steel Day Trip
|
|
|
This is a great opportunity to learn firsthand how industry fabricates steel used to rebuild infrastructure during a guided facilities tour in Lancaster, PA. The trip will take place on Thursday, October 19. Plan to leave Hoboken by 5:30am and return by 5pm. Please RSVP via this link by September 27. Please note, only 50 students will be able to attend, so RSVP ASAP if you are interested.

Friday, October 20, Portal North Bridge, Kearny, NJ: Moles Day Trip
|
Students will be guided on a walking tour of the construction site of the new Portal North Bridge, a $1.56 billion NJ TRANSIT/AMTRAK project with JV Skanska/Traylor Bros. Students will receive an up-close, open-air classroom opportunity to see a number of building concepts and technical challenges in various stages of construction. Plan to leave Hoboken by 7am and return by 4pm. Please RSVP via this link by September 27.

Every Tuesday, 5-6pm: Fall 2023 Sustainability Seminar Series
|
|
|
The Hugo Neu Corporation Sustainability Seminar Series, organized by the MS program in Sustainability Management, is an effort to connect our students to professionals in the field of sustainability. This is a weekly series sponsored by Hugo Neu Corporation and jointly sponsored by Geosyntec Consultants. Cosponsors are Brown and Caldwell, Lozier Inc., The Catalyst Group, and H2M Architects and Engineers. The seminars happen every Tuesday between 5-6pm via Zoom.
