A Message Regarding Recent Events

From: Nariman Farvardin, President

To: Stevens Students, Faculty and Staff

Like many of you, I learned Friday of the arrest of a Hoboken resident in connection with an alleged terror plot. Given that the individual is a graduate of Stevens, I want to address this matter directly.

Let me be unequivocal: Stevens condemns all acts of violence and threats of violence. Such actions are incompatible with who we are as a university and as a community.

The accused individual is in federal custody. Stevens Campus Police and the Hoboken Police Department are in close contact with the FBI, and there are no known threats to the Stevens community. There is no known connection between this matter and any activities on our campus. Stevens Campus Police remains aware and vigilant. If you have specific safety concerns, please contact them directly at 201-216-3911.

I encourage anyone in our community who feels unsettled by this news to seek support. Students can access free, confidential counseling and crisis intervention services 24/7 through Counseling and Psychological Services at 201-216-5177 and unlimited teletherapy through Uwill. Employees can reach the Employee Assistance Program anytime at 800-344-9752 or at guidanceresources.com.
