Greetings from the University Staff Advisory Council!

March Meeting Highlights

  • Alex Sevilla, Vice Provost for Career Advancement & Engagement and Evans Family Executive Director of the Career Center, and Alayna Hayes, Assistant Provost and Senior Director of the Career Center joined USAC members and guests to provide an overview of Vanderbilt's bold new path to career empowerment. Now a strategic priority, Career Advancement & Engagement (CAE) can focus on every student and their unique journey. CAE is comprised of three divisions including the Career Center, Corporate Partnerships, and newly launched Regional Network Hubs. The exciting work has just begun to build a best-in-class experience for students, parents, and alumni. Vanderbilt staff members can also take advantage of the Career Center's self-service professional photo booth, conveniently located in the Student Life Center!

  • As part of our effort to encourage participation in USAC, Amanda Harding, USAC President, shared an overview of the mission, vision, and representative roles. Gearing up for our nominations and elections period for 2023-2024, please take a moment to visit our website, and watch the full meeting recording linked below to learn more about USAC!

"I appreciate all the work that has come from USAC for the staff’s benefit (whether they have gotten credit for it or not). I count it a privilege to represent my peers on the council. The monthly meetings are very informative, and I have been able to build friendships with people all over the university."

Employee Hardship Fund is now
the Employee Critical Support Fund

Vanderbilt's Faculty and Staff Hardship Fund has provided assistance to qualifying faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event since 1994. Previously housed within VUMC, the fund has transitioned to Vanderbilt University ownership and now renamed the Employee Critical Support Fund - providing employees peace of mind during times of uncertainty and to demonstrate the power and values of the Vanderbilt community.
Employees are encouraged to contribute to the fund through
the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

USAC Events

Our events committee has been busy lining up several opportunities to engage with the Vanderbilt community. Check them out below!

Period Products Drive

The Women's Center is currently working with the Community Resource Center (CRC) in Middle Tennessee to collect period products to distribute to local non-profits and schools. Donate products using the CRC's Amazon Wishlist. Or stop by the Women's Center on Friday, March 31 at 12 noon in Sarratt 189 to pack up products for distribution!

Support the Career Closet!

The Graduate School is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Graduate Career Closet, an event co-sponsored by the Graduate School, BRET Office of Career Development ASPIRE Program, the Career Center, Vanderbilt Libraries, the Women’s Center, and USAC.
The Graduate Career Closet is an opportunity for Graduate School students to get free interview ready clothes provided by faculty and staff.
DONATE! We are looking for business casual and professional items for all genders, as well as accessories, such as ties, necklaces, etc. Please ensure our students could wear these items to an interview (washed, no holes, etc.) and bring any items on hangers or neatly folded. We have various drop off locations where donations can be made; please note that these locations have different time and date availability.
