- Shout-out to Morgan Poindexter, CIS coordinator at Miles Jones! We are so grateful for all that you do for our students and community. When there is a need you never hesitate to answer the call of duty. You are such a beacon of light with an infectious smile that is so contagious! Keep shining!
- We had a fabulous turn out for our NextUp Showcase last night. Thank you to our talented students and proud parents. A special️ thanks to our NextUp family led by Ms. Steele, Mr. Amir, and Ms. Turner, who came out to support. Thank you to the River City Cheerleaders, led by Ms. Eberhardt and Ms. Middleton, for joining the festivities. Shout-out to all of the River City Staff who supported our students last night, especially Ms. Liggans and Ms. Smith, for being servers. It was a special evening. Thanks to all who served with love. Go, Red Tails!
- Today Summer Hill celebrates our amazing teachers and instructional assistants for Preschool Teacher Appreciation Day. Thank you for all the love, care, and effort you put forth each and every day to prepare our Tiny Tigers for kindergarten.
- The Armstrong Family would like to thank the entire transportation team, especially our bus drivers, Mr. Thigpen, Ms. Green, Ms. Finney-Reynolds, Ms. Parker, and Mr. Richardson. We appreciate your support in scheduling field trips, athletic travel, and more.
- Shout-out to Ms. Evans, school counselor at Miles Jones ES, for always taking time out of her busy schedule to meet with staff and students and provide breaks. She goes the extra mile to give a listening ear and makes sure our students are heard and taken care of!
- Shout-out to the superstar librarian at Miles Jones ES for an incredible reading assembly!! All students and staff got a free book and my students love it! Keep on shining and thanks for all you do for our school!
- I would like to shout-out the entire 6th grade team at Henderson Middle School. On March 14, they hosted a "Pie Day" where students were able to pie their teachers/admin in honor of Pi Day. This is exactly the kind of fun community building activity that helps our kids build connections with staff and enjoy their schools. My daughter was so excited to tell us about her fun day at school. Kudos to the adults for being such good sports!
- I would like to shout-out Ms. P. Jackson at Henry Marsh Elementary for allowing extra visitors into her class this morning to observe and for everything that she does to ensure all of her students feel safe and are successful every day! I appreciate you, Ms. Jackson!
- I would like to shout-out the ICC Ms. Thomas and special education teacher Mrs. Evans at Southampton Elementary School. Mrs. Evans and Ms. Thomas are a great team and both ladies come up with solutions to a parent’s problem. They showed that they cared and expressed so much compassion. Thank you, ladies!
- Shout-out to Nadia Swain, special education teacher at Binford Middle School. Ms. Swain is dedicated to supporting students with disabilities. She has a nurturing spirit and inspires all of her students to do their best each and every day!
- I would like to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Watts and Mr. George at Maymont Preschool, along with Mr. Scott Hicks with Facilities, for taking a spontaneous encounter in the hallway with Mrs. Watts/Mr. George's little ones and turning it into a learning experience. Team work all across RPS works for all our students.
- Shout-out to Ms. Jada Pratt, long-term permanent substitute at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School! Ms. Pratt is flexible and always ready to step in. She loves the kids and is so kind-hearted to everyone. Thanks for rolling with all the daily classroom changes and for being an incredible support in our building.
- Thank you to the intervention team at Patrick Henry SSA and the resource team for making the peer observation day wonderful!
- My daughter will be so sad to loose her speech therapist – she has come so far in a short time. Jared Forman is amazing and will be missed tremendously. We hope for the best for him in his new adventure. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your time, energy, and understanding of our sweet girl.
- A huge thank you to Cardinal Elementary’s school administrators, front office administrators, school nurse, school counselors, school psychologist, and teachers for their special recognition of me during School Social Work Week and Social Work Month! I feel honored that so many of you went the extra mile to make me feel valued and appreciated. I especially want to thank Ms. Katrina Tillman for the honor of “Woman of the Day” during the celebration of Women’s History Month and SSW Week, Mrs. Marilynn Burton for sponsoring such a delicious lunch, Mrs. Katrina Holmes for the daily celebratory emails and special gifts, and Mrs. Nellie Alayon and Ms. Lisa Thanadar for their lovely unexpected gifts!! It is my honor to be Cardinal’s school social worker and to be a part of the work it takes to help all of our Cardinals soar!
- I would like to give Luke Hostetter and his team a shout-out for spearheading the March Madness bracket challenge. It has been a great morale booster for our office, especially during a time when we all feel like we are running 1,000 miles per hour. It's a gentle reminder of the importance of taking the time to build authentic relationships within your team to foster a positive work environment.
- Our 2nd Annual Special Olympics Cornhole Tournament at Lucille Brown Middle was a great success yesterday. Thanks to all who made it possible. What an excellent team effort!
- Shout-out to the administrative team at J.L. Francis – Ms. Ryan, Mrs. Calloway-Williams, and Mr. Johnson – for being willing to receive a “few” pies in the face in order to raise money for our PTA!! #PiDay
