CDPH Health Advisory:
Monkeypox Virus Infection in the United States and Other Non-endemic Countries

The California Department of Public Health has issued an advisory for providers on the ongoing domestic monkeypox situation. As of May 27, one confirmed case of monkeypox has been identified in California.
This CDPH advisory summarizes the current situation, provides recommendations for the evaluation, testing, and management of a possible monkeypox case, infection control considerations, and resources for patient education.
Currently there are no confirmed cases of monkeypox in Los Angeles County. Visit the DPH healthcare provider monkeypox webpage for most the current information.
Clinicians should report suspected monkeypox immediately. 
Los Angeles County DPH Acute Communicable Disease Control:
  • Weekdays 8:30am–5pm: call 213-240-7941.
  • After-hours: call 213-974-1234 and ask for the physician on call.
Long Beach Health and Human Services:
  • Weekdays 8am-5pm: call 562-570-4302.
  • After hours: call the Duty Officer at 562-500-5537.
Pasadena Public Health Department:
  • Weekdays 8am-5pm (closed every other Friday): call 626-744-6089.  
  • After hours: call 626-744-6043.
