WPC Young Families Ministry

August 2026 Newsletter

Letter from Ashley

Hey everyone! I can't believe we are sending out our AUGUST newsletter and sending kids back to school soon. I hope you've all gotten a bit of rest this Summer and enjoyed some sweet moments with your families.

We are gearing up for a really great end of the summer/start to Fall at WPC. Rather than fill this newsletter with more information than anyone would like to digest in one sitting, below is the link to our 2026-2027 Young Families Handbook. We will have hard copies at church beginning August 16. Feel free to browse around the .pdf as we get ready for lots of life together this year.

2026-2027 Young Families Handbook

If you're looking for a prayer to pray with your kiddos in the next few weeks, here's one from a favorite book of mine:

"Dear God, bless our school and our teachers and all of our helpers. Give me courage to be a good friend, especially to those who don't yet have a friend. It is a gift to learn new things about your world. Let me be curious and kind. And please keep everyone safe all day long."  (from Little Prayers for Ordinary Days)

Below are a few things coming up in the next few days and weeks. We hope to see you soon!

See you at church and around town,

Ashley

WONDER

Begins Sunday, August 30

If you are a parent, questions about your own faith have likely come up as your children begin to raise a few of their own. What would it look like to create a space for parents and kids to explore and deepen their faith in community? A space where parents grow in their confidence to invite their kids to know God more deeply?

Wonder is an intentionally small-scale offering where families will gather to explore scripture together, parents will deepen their own understanding and experience of faith, and kids will experience being playfully and deeply known by their parents and by God.

Wonder is for six to eight families able to commit to a one day retreat kick-off in August, a two hour gathering once a month September through April, and a take-home family activity in which to engage during the month.

Ages of children may vary but at least one child in the family needs to be rising-first grade or older. Contact Ashley if you’re interested in joining.
