Collegiate Orientation

Want to learn more about the ways we can help your news organization succeed? Set up a time to meet with us over Zoom for a brief, informal chat to get information and ask questions. 

 

Membership Dues

SCPA's accounting manager will be in touch soon with your news organization's dues invoice. Dues must be paid before you can order press IDs or enter the 2023 Collegiate Contest (coming in October).

 

Want to host the spring Collegiate Meeting?

SCPA is looking for a member to host the annual Collegiate Meeting & Awards in April 2024. We're flexible but need space to host roughly 100 collegiate members. If you are interested, please reach out to us!

SCPA is hiring a public notice intern

SCPA is looking for a Midlands area college student intern to assist with our statewide public notice efforts. This is a part-time position for the fall semester that will pay $12/hr for 8-10 hours per week. Applicants need to be in Columbia. Hours are flexible during the work week (9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.). Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a high attention to detail, be a quick learner and have solid experience using technology. Some knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat is a plus. Interested candidates should email Jen Madden. Please include a resume and availability.

Earn Your Press Pass Online Journalism Training
Thanks to funding from the SCPA Foundation, this self-paced online training course is now available to all SCPA members at no charge. This training will be especially helpful for collegiate journalists! Training topics include newspaper basics, interviewing and reporting skills, sourcing considerations, news judgment, headline and cutline writing, AP Style, copy editing and basic photography. Members who complete the entire course will receive a Certificate of Completion. If you have a staffer who could benefit from this training, please sign up!
