Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share that the Promotion and Tenure (P&T) Guidelines and Dossier Forms for the 2026–27 academic year are now available in the P&T sections of the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs (OVPFA) website.

There have only been minor modifications to the content of P&T cases from the previous cycle. A summary of modifications is available in the P&T sections of the OVPFA website. However, significant updates have been made to the process and the supporting guidelines and forms as a part of the implementation of Interfolio at UIC.

As part of this year’s process updates, UIC is pleased to formally launch Interfolio’s Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) module for use in the P&T process. In support of this transition, the P&T guidelines and dossier forms have been thoroughly reviewed and updated to reflect the new, fully integrated Interfolio-RPT workflow.

While some sections include refinements and clarifications, Parts III and IV of the Guidelines have been completely revamped to align with the new RPT process:

  • Part III now reflects updates to case preparation expectations, structure, and review processes as they occur within Interfolio-RPT.
  • Part IV provides detailed, step-by-step instructions for using Interfolio-RPT, clearly organized by user role, including:
    • Faculty Candidates
    • Unit Executive Officers (UEOs) and Case Preparers
    • Deans
    • Committee Reviewers
    • P&T Coordinators

Training for Interfolio-RPT is currently ongoing, and training schedules, recordings, and additional resources are available on the Interfolio at UIC webpage. All participants in the P&T process are strongly encouraged to review the information on this site, including the FAQs, if they have not already done so.

In addition to the support and resources provided directly by Interfolio, OVPFA will offer additional assistance through weekly office hours, as well as continued consultation and guidance throughout the cycle.

Please be sure to inform those involved in the P&T process – faculty candidates, UEOs/Preparers, Deans, reviewers, and coordinating staff – of these updates. All units and colleges must use the 2026–27 guidelines, dossier forms, and Interfolio-RPT for the upcoming cycle.
