We Are Hustlin’!
The 11th Annual Hornet Hustle, our Julia Green Marathon, has started with a bang and we have officially finished week one of six. Keep logging those miles!

Important Reminder: We need all student and teacher’s t-shirt sizes ASAP for the free t-shirts, last call is Friday, March 28th. Please fill out this form to submit your child(ren)’s name and size.

Every spring, the Julia Green PTO begins planning its budget for the coming school year (2025-26). We welcome all JG parents and faculty to submit requests for any identified needs that will directly benefit our students. To submit a budget request, complete the form HERE.

2025 Spring Budget Cycle Dates

- Thursday, April 17 at 5:00 pm - Deadline for spring budget requests to be submitted
- Wednesday, April 30 at 5:30 pm - Finance Committee Meeting #1: Requests are presented and discussed
- Tuesday, May 6 at 5:30pm - Finance Committee Meeting #2: Requests are voted on by the finance committee

Important Reminders

Each request must include the following information:

Explanation of how the request will be utilized, the grade levels benefited and description of how JG students will benefit from the request
Explanation of how the request fits in with the mission of the PTO
Documentation of the cost or detailed quote from the vendor

The person submitting the request must be in attendance at the Finance Committee meetings to present their request and to answer any questions. If the individual cannot attend, he/she may identify a substitute to present on his/her behalf.

Have an incoming Kindergarten for next school year? Registration is open and this information helps Julia Green plan for next year, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible. Please help spread the word to families who will be joining our community!

Popsicle Party

Kindergarten Assessments

Optional kindergarten assessments will be held on July 17th or July 22nd. The quick, 30-minute session gives our teachers a chance to meet your little one and ask them a few questions in a relaxed setting. Sign up here.

MNPS Kindergarten Fair

Incoming Kindergarteners can join MNPS's Countdown to Kindergarten Fair on Saturday, April 5 from 9am-1pm at Lentz Public Health Center (2500 Charlotte Avenue).

The Kindergarten Fair will feature onsite kindergarten registration, school bus experience, ask a kindergarten teacher, Nashville Zoo encounter, and so much more!

Incoming students from all MNPS system elementary schools are welcome to join!

Kindergarten Readiness Camp

New this year, teachers are offering an optional Kindergarten Readiness Camp for incoming students! See additional details below and sign up here.

Please note that your child must be registered for kindergarten and enrolled to attend JG next year before you can officially reserve a slot for either the Kindergarten Assessment or Kindergarten Readiness Camp.

Community Clean Up

Volunteers needed for our first annual community clean up this Sunday, March 30th, from 12-5 pm!

A sign up with specific needs can be found here. Plan to join us for however short or long your schedule that day allows, and please sign up regardless of how long you plan to come! We are keeping an eye on the weather and will update volunteers from the list on any changes of plans closer to Sunday.

Donuts with Dad Jokes

Calling all dads! Swing by school early on April Fools' day with your kiddo and your best dad joke! We will have coffee and some donuts for the kids and dads will take the mic to showcase their best jokes! Children must be supervised until school doors open at 7:45.

A huge thank you to Mary Helman and Stephanie Grant for all their help supporting our Hornets with Heart initiative. Through this program our Hornets have partnered with various organizations to collect and pack hygiene items, collect and distribute candy, and they have helped organize this Sunday's first annual community clean up day. Our Hornets have heart, and we are so grateful to you for putting that on display!
