Native American College launch |
The University last week announced the creation of Sacramento State Native American College, a groundbreaking initiative – and first in the CSU – that will offer culturally relevant education while fostering connections between academia and tribal communities. The announcement came during a celebration at the state Capitol featuring tribal leaders and community members.
"We're not establishing a program or a center, this is a college that is designed for those interested in learning more about Native life, history and culture," said President Luke Wood. "We want to serve as the place where Native students want to come and study and learn and grow in an environment that is intentionally designed to serve them."
Opening Fall 2025, the college will integrate academic excellence with tribal values and traditions, offering students of all backgrounds the opportunity to minor in Native American Studies while pursuing any University major.
