Orange County to Open Recovery Assistance Center for Residents Affected by Tropical Storm Chantal July 10

In response to the impacts of Tropical Storm Chantal, Orange County Government will open a Recovery Assistance Center (RAC) to provide essential services and support to residents affected by the storm.

Beginning Thursday, July 10, the center will operate at the Drakeford  Library Complex located at 203 S. Greensboro St., Carrboro, NC 27510. The RAC will operate July 10 through Saturday, July 12, from 12 to 7 p.m.

 

The RAC will serve as a centralized hub, or one-stop shop, where storm survivors can access a variety of recovery resources. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Housing resources
  • Storm insurance assistance
  • Permitting assistance
  • Mental health/crisis support services
  • Public health services
  • Cleanup and debris removal guidance
  • Assistance from state and nonprofit recovery partners

County staff, local nonprofits, and volunteer organizations will be on hand to assist residents and connect them to recovery programs. Language interpretation services will be available on site.

Residents do not need to bring any documentation.

Residents who live in northern Orange County who need transportation can call 919-245-2656 to arrange a ride.
