For the first time, Staff Advisory Council will host a Faculty and Staff Mixer in the Maverick Activities Center to feature motivational speakers, refreshments, and more. The mixer will be Friday, Nov. 10, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Homecoming Street Festival is back again this year! Enjoy a night of delicious food and fun-filled activities with family and friends. The festival will be Friday, Nov. 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Spaniolo Drive.
College Park District gearing up for Homecoming
On Saturday, Nov. 11, College Park District is hosting a Passport Scavenger Hunt during the Homecoming Tailgate from 12-3 p.m. Pick up your passport card at the table on Spaniolo Drive and collect stamps for swag or samples at each location. Fill up your passport and trade it in for a free T-shirt and a chance to win the grand prize.
There are only a few days left in UT System’s Fall Into Fitness Challenge. Groups of three to five participants are encouraged to collectively log 1 million steps by Sunday, Nov. 12. For more information, visit UTA Wellness.

Bridge elevator out of service
The elevator for the north pedestrian bridge is temporarily out of service. The Office of Facilities Management has ordered materials, scheduled to arrive in approximately two weeks, to repair the elevator.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
UTA is joining the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Mavericks, The Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies program encourages you to participate in the global campaign by sending in a short video or written testimonial. In your message, first state a specific form of violence against women, such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, or cyberbullying. Then propose an action that can contribute to its elimination. Send your video or text message to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, Nov. 20. Organizers will compile the messages into a powerful montage and share it across social media channels.
Eliminate Tabacco Use Day
UT System is hosting another Eliminate Tobacco Use Day Thursday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. in Palo Duro Lounge of the University Center. The event is a tobacco-free celebration with giveaways, T-shirts, barbecue, and interactive activities about resources and current trends. The first 400 participants will receive free barbecue and T-shirts.
UTA's annual campus-wide Thanksgiving Dinner is just around the corner! Hosted by UTA Dining and the Office of International Education's Department of Global Engagement, the dinner will take place Tuesday, Nov. 21, 5-8 p.m. Students on a meal plan will be able to attend for free. Students without a meal plan, faculty, and staff can purchase tickets for $9.89 at the door.
The Office of Sustainability is revamping its Office Green Team program and would like to invite all departments to apply. Departments will be certified as silver, gold, or platinum levels. President elected as Internet2 board member
University President Jennifer Cowley was recently elected to serve a three-year term on the Internet2 Board of Trustees. Internet2 is a nonprofit member-driven advanced technology community founded by the nation’s leading higher education institutions in 1996.
