Dear Colleagues,

I’m excited to welcome you to the start of the 2024 spring semester! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and are ready for a semester of opportunity and growth.

I want to share my sincere thanks to each of you and recognize your significant impact on our students’ lives and our community. From supporting first-generation students to conducting groundbreaking research to engaging in service-learning and community-based projects, we are an anchor for our community and North Texas. You are our campus’ biggest strength, and I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

 

 

 

UTA 2030 Strategic Plan

This spring, we'll be unveiling our strategic plan, UTA 2030, shaped by the dreams of our community. We’ve heard feedback from our community through focus groups, surveys, committee meetings, and much more, and I want to thank those who have actively participated in this process. You’ve shared your dreams for UTA, and I am confident this new plan will set us on a path to accomplish our big goals.

Be on the lookout for a future event where we will launch the new plan to our community as we embark on this exciting journey for the future of UTA together.

The College Tour

UTA is featured in an episode of The College Tour that showcases our vibrant campus and diverse student stories. Get a sneak peek at uta.edu/thecollegetour and stay tuned for the full episode on Amazon Prime in February. Maverick students are bold, unafraid, and unstoppable, and now the world will get a firsthand look at what makes UTA so exceptional. I encourage you to watch this episode and share it with friends and family.

 

Campus Updates

We have a lot going on to create engaging learning and activity spaces across our campus for years to come. Our Greek Life Center is under construction and will be a newly renovated facility that creates a space for fostering a strong sense of community for UTA’s Greek life.

 

 

The Cooper Street Bridge renovation project is underway. It will update and improve the safety and longevity of the north and south bridges that connect our campus and create an iconic welcome to campus. As a reminder, the north pedestrian bridge will be closed through March 15, 2024. The central bridge will remain open throughout the project.

We’re also nearing completion of the design phase for the addition and renovation of our Life Sciences building on campus, and construction is expected to start this semester. This project will provide updated and expanded space for research and teaching labs, classrooms, and ample student engagement areas.

As a reminder, we are also undergoing a Campus Master Plan Update to examine our physical campus and plan for our future. Our campus is a primary way we engage with our community, advance research and artistic endeavors, and support students. UTA’s physical space helps us create a thriving place for everyone who lives and works on campus. I invite you to take the Campus Master Plan survey and provide your thoughts and ideas to help shape the future of our campus.

UTA has so much to look forward to as we kick off 2024. I appreciate your continued commitment as we enter the new semester and can’t wait to hear about your many successes throughout the year.
