Wednesday, October 29, 2025 | 3 p.m.
Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field at the
Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex
Route 440 South, Jersey City, N.J.

This is it, Gothic Knights fans—the NJCU women's soccer team takes the field for its final home game of the 2025 season and the final regular season game the Gothic Knights will ever play as members of the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

The stakes couldn't be higher: the Gothic Knights (9-6-2, 2-4-2 NJAC) need a victory over William Paterson University (6-9-2, 1-5-2 NJAC) to clinch a berth in the NJAC Tournament, and this is a team that knows how to deliver when it matters most—reaching the conference semifinals in each of the past two seasons. One game, one goal, one final chance to celebrate our conference legacy and send our Gothic Knights into the postseason with the roar of the home crowd behind them. Admission is free, so be there, be loud, and be part of history as we cheer on the Gothic Knights to playoff glory!

Stephen Sondheim's

CENTER for the ARTS

Stephen Sondheim's "Assassins"
Weekend #2

October 24 - November 2, 2025
Margaret Williams Theatre (Hepburn Hall)

Our nation's most notorious assassins gather on stage to violently pursue a twisted American Dream.

A multiple Tony Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force, "Assassins" combines Stephen Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it, embodied by America's four successful and five would-be presidential assassins. Bold, original, disturbing and alarmingly funny, "Assassins" is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.

Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience, while passionately advocating stronger remedies for social discord that embody hope, humanity, peace and acceptance.

🎟️ Tickets

Price: $25 General Admission; $15 Students and Seniors

Show Dates and Times:

Second Weekend

  • Friday, October 31, 2025 | 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 1, 2025 | 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 2, 2025 | 3 p.m.

Editor's Note: Given recent acts of political violence, NJCU wishes to clarify that the 1990s musical ‘Assassins,’ scheduled for this fall, has been in development by The Center for the Arts at NJCU since spring 2025. The production examines difficult chapters in American history, and we approach it with care, responsibility, and respect for our community. NJCU unequivocally denounces violence in all its forms, including political violence, and hopes this work will serve as a catalyst for thoughtful reflection and dialogue.

September 17 – November 19, 2025
Atomic Cowboy: The Daze After 1992/
Take It Home: for (__) Shall Not Repeat the Error.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the NJCU Visual Arts Gallery will host two interrelated exhibitions which will present the ramifications of atomic bombs from multiple perspectives.

Shown at Daniel Saxon Gallery in Los Angeles in 1992, Nobuho Nagasawa’s exhibition, "Atomic Cowboy: The Daze After 1992," drew significant attention to an unusually high number of cancer deaths among the cast and crew members of “cowboy western” films, many of which were shot in Nevada deserts, not far from nuclear test sites.

Central to the exhibition was Nuke-Cuisine consisting of 835 “Cloud of Mushroom Soup” cans. 835 was the number of the announced nuclear tests in America from 1945 to 1992. 120 cans will be shown at NJCU with a wall installation of the atomic bombs’ data, portraits of the actors who suffered from radiation exposure, and other related works. The Atomic Cowboy addresses an array of Nagasawa’s ecological concerns by juxtaposing these images of human frailty with the glitz and machismo of Hollywood’s “Cowboy” genre.

Simultaneously presented in the front half of the gallery is "Take it home, for (__) shall not repeat the error." Curated by Souya Handa, who was raised in Hiroshima, his exhibition was one of the open call winners and presented at Apexart earlier this spring. The title derives from the cenotaph of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park: "Rest in peace, for [we/they] shall not repeat the error." According to the formal statement by the Hiroshima government, the omitted subject in it is "we," representing not only Hiroshima but all of humanity.

Featuring the work by four artists – Souya Handa, Kei Ito, Sixte Kakinda, and Layla Yamamoto – from Japan, the United States, and Democratic Republic of Congo, the purpose of the exhibition is to connect the histories of the Manhattan Project with the subsequent nuclear weapons development in the U.S., to construct a linear narrative from the uranium mines used in the Hiroshima bomb, to post-WW2 nuclear tests, and even Fukushima.

Presented together, the two exhibitions aim to raise awareness on the dangers of nuclear weapons and the ongoing threat of nuclear wars.
