   SUMMER GRADUATION
The last day to apply for summer graduation is Friday, June 30. Apply through your MyUNT account. UNT does not host summer commencement ceremonies, but if you apply and are accepted by the deadline, you can participate in the Fall 2023 commencement ceremonies Dec.15-17. Review the Summer 2023 Calendar to make sure you are on track with important dates and deadlines!

   NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES
The deadline to submit scholarship applications to receive a UNT endorsement for the Rhodes, Mitchell and Marshall scholarships is Sunday, Aug. 6.

UNT has a single nominating committee for the three scholarships. All required forms, essays, transcripts and letters of recommendation must be combined and submitted via email in the form of one complete PDF. Students should not confuse national-level application and nomination deadlines with the Aug. 6 internal UNT deadline.
If you plan to apply for any of these opportunities, please send a brief email to James Duban and Lily Geilhausen to learn more about the process.

There are many other funding opportunities that do not require institutional endorsement. Keep in mind that most nationally competitive scholarships require applications to be submitted one year in advance.

  BEFORE SCRAPPY, THERE WAS
UNT has gone through quite a few changes since its establishment in 1890 as Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute. Just like North Texas, Scrappy has had a fair share of name changes. It’s hard to imagine Scrappy with a different name!
With that being said, what was the mascot’s name when the first human put on the iconic eagle costume? Send an email with the correct answer, and 10 randomly selected students will each win a Mean Green prize pack. The answer will be announced in an upcoming issue.
   WHAT IS...GO MEAN GREEN?
Tune in Tuesday, June 27, to see UNT’s College of Education alumna Erin Gold compete on Jeopardy! Find out which channel airs Jeopardy! in your area by entering your zip code on the show’s website. Go Mean Green!

The development will feature a new covered pavilion, observational dock, accessible walkway and signage. The Pollinative Prairie, located on four acres of the east field at Discovery Park, is open to all visitors who are looking to relax, research or learn about the more than 900 plant and animal species that have been observed in the prairie.
