Work in “Additional Areas” began in 1994 and continues to the present. These “Additional Areas” are located on several of the regions where the Church of the Nazarene has works. These areas tend to be resistant to the gospel, which means that the open proclamation of the gospel can be restricted, requiring creative approaches for ministry and missions. They may also be areas where the Church of the Nazarene is officially registered with the government but whose political, social, or religious environment may not always be conducive to Christian outreach and church development. Often, we connect specific languages with specific countries on which we are focused. However, in this instance, the language that matters most is the language of grace and love, sharing hope in Christ. Regardless of the political, economic, social, or religious circumstance, the Church of the Nazarene is present to demonstrate the unconditional love of God to persons of all ages, living in every kind of human conditions. There are many challenges to the work of spreading the Good News of Jesus in these places but particularly in contexts where travel to remote areas — to make connections with contacts there — is hampered by poor roads and infrastructure. How do workers travel long distances without vehicles? Cars and vans are costly and conspicuous, but there is a way. In one area, they have found that motorcycles and "three-wheelers" can get the job done.

Did you know that World Evangelism Fund (WEF) giving makes it possible for the Church of the Nazarene to enter “Additional Areas”? In the remote regions of an “Additional Area,” where public transportation is scarce and road conditions often make travel difficult, the Church of the Nazarene has found an innovative solution to keep its ministry thriving. Through a project to provide motorcycles for district leaders, Nazarene leaders are now able to reach remote communities that were previously inaccessible.

For district leaders in this area, travel has always been a challenge. With many regions lacking decent roads and reliable public transportation, the ability to visit pastors, churches, and congregations was extremely limited. But thanks to the efforts of Nazarenes around the world who supported this initiative, the project has already been able to provide a three-wheeled tricycle and two motorcycles, giving leaders the mobility they need.
These motorcycles have already made a significant impact. One district leader, who had never before been able to visit certain rural areas, has used the new three-wheeled motorcycle to travel and provide pastoral training. Another result of this enterprise is that several students in pastoral training are now ready to graduate from their course of study program and move forward toward ordination.

This story highlights the creativity and determination of the Church of the Nazarene in expanding its reach, despite the challenges of geography and infrastructure. The Motorcycles for District Leaders project has become a vital tool in ensuring that the message of hope and faith continues to spread to the most remote areas where the church has contacts. Is God calling you to support this kind of work? For more information, click here. But, most important pray, even for those who cannot be named, in places that cannot be identified; and trust God to ACT there. Service in the case of “Additional Areas” requires prayer and giving for places you cannot go, to achieve things you cannot accomplish without joining others in the venture.
