UTA inventors recognized worldwide for innovations

Solid-state copper, systems for controlling prosthetic devices, and radioactive nanoparticles are just a few of the 23 patents UTA inventors contributed to The University of Texas System, resulting in an overall ranking of No. 6 on the National Academy of Inventors' Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U.S. Utility Patents list for 2024. Spring Forward, UT Living Well Platform Demo

Spring forward challenge

The University of Texas System’s “Spring Forward” team challenge starts tomorrow! Groups of three to five participants are encouraged to collectively log 1 million steps from through May 4. Learn how to sign up and navigate the UT Living Well Platform by joining a virtual demo tomorrow, Tuesday, April 1, 12-1 p.m.

The UTA softball team will take on the Oklahoma Sooners, the winners of four consecutive national championships, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 1, at 6 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field. International Week

For the 48th annual International Week, the Office of International Education and campus partners will host fun, festive, and global learning events. These events, held March 31-April 4, include the International Food Fair, which allows cultural student organizations to share a dish from their culture or home country.

The Student Experience Project is hosting a seminar on Monday, April 7, to provide quick, effective ways to support your students as they wrap up the semester. The Three to Thrive campaign offers easy, research-backed ideas that require minimal effort but can have a major impact on student success. RSVP to attend the seminar from 1-2 p.m. in the sixth floor Library Parlor and learn more about the Student Experience Project.

Award-winning art exhibition catalogue

The Scholarly catalogue for the Solace in Painting: Reflecting on a Tumultuous Century exhibition by Fletcher Coleman, assistant professor of art history, was named the "2025 Outstanding Catalog Produced by a University or College Department" by the Midwest Art History Society (MAHS). The catalog and exhibition will be recognized next month at the MAHS conference in Denver.

The New UC

Last day for 2025 UC events

Ahead of the planned construction of the new University Center (UC), departments and organizations can continue to host events on site until fall 2025 homecoming week. The final day for departments to hold an event at the UC will be Saturday, Nov. 8, with homecoming starting Nov. 9. General request reservations through Mazevo will open Monday, April 7, to book space for summer and fall 2025 events. If you have any questions regarding reservations, call UTA Commons & University Center Event Operations & Campus Services at 817-252-2929 or email ucrequest@exchange.uta.edu.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2024-25 Outstanding Student Leader Scholarships and Awards. Award recipients were nominated by faculty, staff, or peers and completed a rigorous application, and top award winners participated in an interview. Students were selected for their demonstration of leadership skills, commitment to their communities, and impact at UTA.

Are you vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella?

Measles outbreak: what you need to know

Measles case counts continue to rise in certain Texas regions. The threat of measles is low, especially among those vaccinated and persons born prior to 1957, who are deemed to have “presumptive immunity” and do not need vaccination. Stay informed with up-to-date information about measles and review safety information about measles from the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Enhanced versions of MavPlanner, MavScheduler, and MavInspire are coming soon. The enhanced systems will see updated user interfaces and functionality. This improved technology will put actionable data and early alerts in the hands of faculty and staff. The tools will also allow staff to effectively assist students with planning a clear path to graduation.
