WBW Summer Programs
Washington Business Week places students in a dynamic simulation where they role-play as industry professionals, launch a company, sharpen their communication skills, and solve real-world challenges.

Students take the lead as their team races against the clock to develop a world-changing idea and pitch it to potential investors at the end-of-week competition. Guided by a mentor from a local business, students learn to work as a team, explore careers, and build a network with professionals and future leaders.

Each day, students and their companies dive into a real-world business simulation in the career pathway they’ve chosen. Students make “real-life” decisions as a team and participate in interactive projects with other teen companies. Business leaders from around the state share their experiences and challenges and provide valuable insight and direction as they mentor the teams.

Traditional & Virtual Programs are offered in 2023! Click here for more information on these summer programs.

The SAT for the Class of 2024 is just around the corner. Take these simple steps to get ready:
  1. Create a College Board Account
You'll need a College Board account to view your SAT scores when they're ready. You can also search for colleges and build a college list. If you don’t have an account yet, create one at collegeboard.org/mysat.

  2. Set a Target Score
Once you set a goal score and know how it matches up with the schools you want to apply to (even if they’re test optional), you can practice and prep with focus. And, if you took the PSAT/NMSQT®, you can use that score as a benchmark. Learn more.

  3. Decide Where to Send Your Scores
On or before test day, you can choose which colleges and/or scholarship programs to send your four free score reports to. Be ready with your list. Learn more.

  4. Sign Up for Free Practice on Khan Academy
Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy® is free and the best way to prepare. Sign up at satpractice.org for your personalized study plan.
Remember, you’re in the driver’s seat. You get to choose how to use your scores (or not), and it makes the SAT risk-free. There are no penalties for taking it, just rewards if you use it. Senior SAT's (graduation requirement at SCA) will be taken on campus during school hours on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.  Sign up to take an earlier one here (eveall seniors will still be required to take the October 11 test as it meets the standardized testing requirement for school accredidation).

Class of 2025

  • Want ALL the info about the College Admissions Process?  The National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) has put out their 23-24 Guide to the College Admissions Process brochure.  This 104-page document will give you all the information you ever wanted about picking, applying to, and getting accepted to all the different types of colleges out there.

  • Visit a College this summer! Even if you just visit a college here in Pierce County, you won't regret stepping on campus to learn more about what college life is about.  So, take the time to visit a college today or plan a trip to visit a college out of state soon.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all sophomores is to complete and turn in a minimum of 10 service hours. These hours need to have been completed between June 11, 2022 and June 2, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours asap to Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Reinmuth. Forms available in the front office or on our website.

Class of 2026

  • Community involvement: Use this summer as a great time to get involved!  Find a spot to volunteer and start being consistent with your volunteer time.  Don't forget to document your hours in the high school office!  You won't regret spending the time in your community as well as building your resume for college.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all freshmen is to complete and turn in a minimum of 5 service hours. These hours need to have been completed between June 11, 2022 and June 2, 2023 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours asap to Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Reinmuth. Forms available in the front office or on our website.
  • CLEP Testing - Ever heard of CLEP testing?  Did you know this is a great, inexpensive way for students to check off some of those college credits?  For over 50 years, the College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) has offered exams at a fraction of the price of a college course, saving you hundreds of dollars. CLEP exams let you test out of introductory courses and move to more advanced courses sooner, saving time toward your degree. Learn more at clep.collegeboard.org/.
  • College isn't for everyone!  Here at SCA we believe that God has a calling for each of our students and that doesn't always mean attending college!  This is a great article talking about some of the alternatives out there for those who don't feel led to pursue a college experience.  Deciding What to do With Your Life & Career in High School
  • FREE MONEY! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often. So many scholarships have been added recently!

  • Scholarship Search Engines: Remember, you should never have to pay for a scholarship search! A few good searches include Big FutureFastwebScholarships.com, and Going Merry
Need a way to get those volunteer hours?
We could use some HS students who are great in Math or English who would like to tutor Elementary kids.  Also, BASC is having record numbers of kids in the afternoon and could use some help with the program after school. Please encourage your students to volunteer to help and earn community service hours. See Mrs. Neff in the high school office if you are interested!
