DSPs of the Year Are Celebrated in Style

Throughout People Inc., Direct Support Professionals play a vital role in supporting people’s choices, strengths, interests and needs while ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Earlier this month, we were proud to honor 29 hard-working staff members at our DSP of the Year Awards at a special breakfast and awards ceremony. Winners were nominated by colleagues, supervisors, and people served in our many programs. Click below to read more and the names of all the winners.

Welcoming New People and Programs

In an effort to ensure the continuation of programs and services to hundreds of people in Western New York, beginning February 1, 2024, local agency Autism Services Inc. will transfer its OPWDD-funded programs to People Inc. This includes 12 group homes, two day programs and other services for people with autism. The change is the result of significant operational and financial challenges that threatened the programs at Autism Services and comes on the heels of months of assessment and collaboration.

Happy Anniversary, Iris Senior Housing!

President and CEO Anne McCaffrey and other members of People Inc. leadership recently helped celebrate the 30th anniversary of People Inc.’s Irish Apartments in Hamburg. Separate and different from our programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, People Inc. manages 20 senior affordable apartment facilities in Western New York, where income-eligible older adults live in maintenance-free apartments. We are excited to honor the great residents and staff at Iris Apartments!

Grant Brings Activities Galore to
Respite Programs

Enhanced programming means loads of fun for respite participants, thanks to creative uses of grant funds from The Children’s Guild Foundation. The $51,133 funding spiced up the already exciting activities offered at all of People Inc.’s respite programs in Erie and Niagara counties, adding fun ranging from cooking classes to yoga, and even an interactive dance party. Let’s just say things are really rocking at People Inc.’s respite programs!
