Congratulations to aerospace engineering major Austen Smith! The Keller, Texas, native won a silver medal in mixed team skeet shooting and a bronze medal in women's skeet shooting at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

| Volunteer for Move-In Day

Volunteer for Move-In Day to help welcome students to their new on-campus homes. Move-In Day for residence halls will be 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Volunteers will receive a free volunteer T-shirt for moving personal items into new students' rooms. Sign up for two-hour shifts by Monday, Aug. 12, 5 p.m.

UTA announces westward expansion
|
Monday, the UT System Board of Regents approved UTA’s plan to purchase 51 acres of property in west Fort Worth within the Walsh Ranch development, paving the way for UTA West, a new campus dedicated to meeting the educational needs of one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. The new campus will be advantageously positioned at the intersection of I-30 and I-20 at the western gateway of Fort Worth.

Apply for the inSTEM program
|
Undergraduate students in science, technology, engineering, or math fields have until Friday, Aug. 9, to apply for the inSTEM program, a unique initiative that blends mentorship, hands-on projects, and exposure to research and industry best practices. To apply, first-year students interested in pursuing a STEM major must have a high school GPA of 2.8 or above.

Campus preparations for excessive heat

During times of high temperatures and expected higher demand on the University’s chill water cooling system, UTA Facilities Management will take several steps to manage chill water use and recommends these measures for the campus community to help lessen cooling demands in buildings.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is rebranding its Help Desk into a Service Desk. Monday, Aug. 12-Friday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Service Desk will have a pop-up location for students at the Maverick Activities Center. For more information on how this rebrand will enhance the support provided across campus, visit the OIT blog.
