We are less than six months away from the April 2026 deadline to comply
OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DEAN |
October 27, 2025
Dear College of Medicine Community,
We are less than six months away from the April 2026 deadline to comply with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires public institutions to ensure digital content is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
I encourage you to learn more about UIC’s digital accessibility initiative to help colleges and units meet the deadline. The College of Medicine is committed to this effort and has a team of liaisons working with UIC’s digital accessibility office to help implement the university’s initiative.
Digital accessibility is not just a technical requirement – it’s a legal and social responsibility shared by all students, faculty, and staff who create digital content in today’s world, from documents to emails to social media posts.
The College team has created a web page that shares additional information, frequently asked questions, and several resources to help you better understand accessibility and how to create accessible digital content.
Over the coming weeks, our team will be sharing training tips and insights that will help you ensure the content you share is accessible. Please be on the lookout for these messages, as I know they will be helpful … and don’t forget to visit the College of Medicine accessibility web page.
