Federal Research Agency Policy Changes
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research has created a website with information and updates on ‘policy instructions from federal research agencies and their implications for UIC research.’ We encourage the research community to contact the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), by emailing NotifyOPS@uic.edu, if you have either received a direct communication from a funding agency and/or if your research is experiencing impacts from these policy changes.
As changes are coming rapidly, the OSP also encourages the research community to monitor the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) website on the ‘2025 Administration Transition Information & Resources’.

Industry Collaboration
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is hosting a workshop ‘Faculty Training Workshop for Industry Engagement’ on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm in 3175 COMRB. This workshop will be led by the University-Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) and offers early and mid-career faculty an opportunity to explore and understand critical aspects of university-industry partnerships. Space is limited and registration is required.

Institutional Biosafety
The research community is reminded that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued guidance on the oversight of Dual Use Research of Concern and Pathogens with Enhanced Pandemic Potential (DURC/PEPP) which will be effective May 6, 2025. The January 10, 2025 notice, NOT-OD-25-061, provides more information.
