AMPLIFY | Order of the Palmetto

Congratulations to Meera Narasimhan, MD, professor and chair in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Floyd School of Medicine and Prisma Health Midlands, on receiving the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian honor, at a ceremony earlier this week at the State House. Ben Levinson, MD ('83), was honored as the MUSC PA Preceptor of the Year for 2025-26, receiving the award at the MUSC PA Program graduation ceremony in Charleston on August 14. A dedicated educator since 2016, this marks his second time earning MUSC's top preceptor recognition. Dr. Levinson also teaches Floyd School of Medicine PA students and continues to practice nearly full-time in Irmo, SC, where he's celebrating his 40th year at the practice he founded, SC Internal Medicine and Rehabilitation, LLC.

Lori Brooks, DNAP, CRNA ('99), received the Helen Arndt Award at the South Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Awards. The Helen Arndt Award is presented annually to a CRNA who exemplifies outstanding dedication to the profession. The recipient demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and goals of S.C.A.N.A., contributes meaningfully to the advancement of anesthesia in South Carolina, and upholds the highest standards of professional practice, leadership, and service.

Austin Worden, PhD, MS ('22, '19), and his wife, Meg, welcomed their second child, Molly Moores Worden, on September 8, 2026. Molly arrived at 5:39 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and measuring 20.67 inches long. Big sister Paige is already embracing her new role.
