FARM MANAGEMENT

Dodge County Farm Succession Conversation February 18

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, UW-Madison Division of Extension, will hold a discussion about farm succession planning from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.

The purpose of this conversation is to learn the challenges farmers face when trying to plan for the future of their businesses.  We also hope to learn what types of educational topics, delivery methods, and other support farmers need to plan for succession.

When: Wednesday, February 18, 2026; 11:30 am – 1:30 pm

Where: Auditorium at the Dodge County Building,  127 E Oak Street, Juneau, WI.

LUNCH: Lunch will be provided for participants at 11:30 am, with the discussion beginning promptly at 12:00 Noon. We will conclude at 1:30 pm.

Other details:

  • You will not be required to share anything that you feel is too personal. We want to know what you think about succession planning, the barriers, and educational needs for Wisconsin farms in general, not the specific details of your succession planning. We will take notes and audio record the discussion; however, your answers/comments will not be connected to your name.
  • Participation is limited to 12 people.
  • Register for this conversation by completing this registration form or by contacting joy.kirkpatrick@wisc.edu or call at 608-263-3485.

Phosphorus Fertilized Enhancement Products - What Do We Know?

With phosphorus (P) fertilizers being subject to sharp and volatile price increases over the past year, producers are seeking ways to cut their fertilizer costs without risking yield-limiting P deficiencies. While there’s no magical solution that will replace P fertilization and the 4Rs (Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time, and Right Place) of nutrient management, understanding the mechanisms of fertilizer enhancement products currently on the market can aid in the decision to use them.

BMPs of NMPs a Six Episode Series from Field Notes

A special series from Field Notes produced with the help of the Nutrient and Pest Management (NPM) team at UW-Madison Extension and guest-hosted by Landon Baumgartner (Southwest Regional Outreach Specialist for NPM). Across six episodes, we dive into the fundamentals and best management practices (BMPs) of Nutrient Management Planning (NMP) in Wisconsin, so we couldn’t help by calling the series the BMPs of NMPs.
