   PRESTIGIOUS PROFESSOR

Dr. William Acree, a professor of analytical chemistry, associate chair and graduate advisor, has earned the 2026 Council on Undergraduate Research Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Award. He becomes the second UNT professor to earn the award, making the university the first to have multiple recipients.

Dr. Acree has taught at UNT since 1988, and many of his students have won national awards, including 10 Goldwater Scholarships, and have gone on to prestigious science universities. Read his story to learn how he builds a sense of community with his students.

   PANTRY PHILANTHROPY

Come and do some good for the summer and volunteer for the UNT Food Pantry presented by Kroger. Volunteers meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Thursday to unload the delivery truck, stock the shelves in the pantry and help with other tasks. If you are interested, send an email to desresources@unt.edu.

   PARKING PERMITS

Heads up, Eagles! Parking permits go on sale starting at 8 a.m. Monday, June 15. Don't forget! This year UNT is debuting virtual permits. That means you can purchase your permit online without waiting for it to come in the mail. Don’t wait — popular permits sell out fast.
