Social Action Project:
Sisterhood of Temple Shalom |
For the past three years, Temple Shalom of Newton, MA, has provided nearly 1000 post abortion kits to HealthQ, a health care clinic that provides exceptional reproductive and sexual health care to all who need it.
They helped to facilitate this project for our District Convention as well. For this, an Amazon Wish List was set up asking for heating pads, sanitary napkins, snacks, juice boxes, and more. Publicity went to all NE District members who graciously filled Robin Krieger’s basement with enough items to make 100 post abortion care bags.
The project was promoted throughout the weekend with the kits completed after the delicious Saturday night ice cream social. 100 bags were delivered the following Monday to a very grateful staff at HealthQ.

Spirituality Project:
Sisterhood of B'nai Israel |
On April 11, 2026, thanks to a microgrant from the WRJ, the sisterhood of B'nai Israel in Southbury, CT, held a Havdalah event at the Discovery Center Planetarium in Bridgeport. The event garnered much excitement leading up to it not only from our sisterhood members but from the temple's religious school students who were also in attendance. Our sisterhood members have been forming new bonds with our students through this and other joint programs, including an opportunity to create their own Havdalah sets in advance of this program.

Looking to focus on Sisterhood? Having social programming based on common interests is a great way to build community and sisterhood. Feeling crafty? Want to have a book group? How about hosting bagels and coffee while kids are at religious school? Maybe get a group together to attend a theater production or concert in your area? You can also take a look at the WRJ Mighty Networks space to see what other sisterhoods have done or even just to connect with other reform Jewish women.
