Welcome back to what will be a milestone year at The University of Texas at Arlington. In 2025, we’re celebrating our 130th anniversary as an institution and more than 100 years of impact on Texas and our communities.
What started as Arlington College—with a single classroom and a handful of students near what is now our University Center—has become the 420-acre beating heart of Arlington, a national research university that attracts brilliant students from more than 100 countries and employs faculty and staff who excel at teaching, research, mentoring, and supporting the dreams of every student who steps foot on campus.
We have more than 40,000 students, 280,000-plus alumni, a multibillion-dollar economic impact on our state, and the honor and responsibility of providing educational experiences that change the lives of those who come here. Throughout the coming year, we’ll stage events for our campus and community that commemorate our achievements and celebrate the Mavericks who make history and break barriers.

In case you missed the news, we began 2025 with a major national award from the U.S. Department of Education that should fill all of us with tremendous pride. We are among six inaugural winners of the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program, which celebrates institutions of higher education for enrolling underserved student populations and equipping them for careers that lead to economic mobility.
We were recognized for our success at enrolling students with financial need and helping them earn degrees of value that lead to gainful employment. In the words of the U.S. Secretary of Education, this award recognizes schools that are "doing the most to lift students up."
This University is all about access to higher education and ensuring student success—and that’s exactly what this award recognizes. I hope you’re as proud of this as I am.

In the months since announcing plans for UTA West, we have been busy meeting with city and state officials, industry leaders, community members, regional higher education and ISD partners, UTA alumni, and neighborhood associations to share information and solicit feedback.
The search is underway for a leader for our new campus. And we will soon open a storefront in Parker County near the site of the new campus where the community can learn more about UTA West and gather for information sessions, making this our third Fort Worth location alongside UTARI and our Fort Worth Center.

We have big plans and major projects slated for the coming year, including:
|
- additional faculty hiring through RISE 100 that will strengthen our teaching and research capabilities;
- the launch of our accreditation reaffirmation process—an undertaking that will require cooperation and collaboration from every corner of campus;
-
a continued commitment to engaging our community through educational opportunities, partnerships, and events;
- the expansion of our signature Blaze Forward program, which makes a UTA degree more accessible to students regardless of financial background; and
- finalizing our campus master plan to ensure our infrastructure and facilities can support our success.

Our strategic plan, UTA 2030: Shared Dreams, Bright Future, guides leaders and frontline employees alike about what matters most to us, how we evaluate our success, and where we’re going as a University. It’s a blueprint to help people not only dream big here, but also to turn those big dreams into reality for our students and our community.
We do meaningful work here. We change lives through education, and I am immensely proud to work alongside you. Thank you for all you do for UTA and our students.
