A great community takes care of its own. Help us give back to those who protect us during our Local Heroes week from May 4th through May 11th. Active first responders (fire, police, military, EMTs), Veterans, teachers, nurses, and doctors are invited to experience Active Wellness Center for free.
If you know a local hero, invite them to join your routine or just try out the club on their own time.
All they have to do is bring their employee ID or badge to the Service Desk to get started.

| MEET RON LYONS | FITNESS PROGRAM MANAGER |
Join us in welcoming our new Fitness Program Manager, Ron Lyons!
Ron enjoys working in the field of health and fitness because he has personally experienced how powerful the human body can be when it’s given the right environment to heal and thrive.
Years ago, Ron was diagnosed with stage-4 stomach cancer. Through a committed natural health protocol focused on nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes, he was able to restore his health. Later in life, he also developed type 2 diabetes, which he was able to reverse through similar lifestyle strategies.
These experiences completely changed Ron's perspective on health and inspired him to dedicate his career to helping others take control of their well-being.
For more than 10 years, Ron has worked with clients as a NASM-certified personal trainer with additional certifications in nutrition and wellness coaching. His approach goes beyond just workouts. He focuses on helping people understand how strength training, nutrition, recovery, and daily habits work together to support long-term health.
As a proud girl dad and someone now in his mid-50s, Ron also appreciates how important it is to stay strong and healthy for the long run. Aging is inevitable, but how we age is something we can influence. His goal is to help people—from kids and families to older adults—develop the habits and knowledge that allow them to stay active, confident, and independent throughout their lives.
In his spare time, Ron loves to #LiveActively by enjoying his hobbies, which include: daily workouts at the gym combining strength and functional training, Rucking, Hiking, Pickleball, Paddleboarding and Backpacking.
Ultimately, Ron's mission is to create an environment where people feel supported, educated, and empowered to build lasting health and a better quality of life.
Bonus Fun Facts: Ron grew up in the bush in North West Africa, where his parents were missionaries. "If chicken was for dinner I had to run down a live chicken first!"
Ron is also a chef by trade (20 years in the corporate world) so he loves making his own yogurt, beef jerky, pemmican and sourdough bread that his mom used to make growing up in Africa.
Make sure to say hi to Ron next time you see him around the club!

Recovery isn’t the opposite of progress — it’s the foundation that makes progress possible. Every time you train, you create small amounts of stress on your muscles and nervous system. It’s during rest, not the workout itself, that your body repairs, adapts, and grows stronger. Without proper recovery, performance plateaus, fatigue builds, and motivation dips. Incorporating gentle movement like stretching, yoga, walking, or mobility work boosts circulation and speeds muscle repair, while massage or foam rolling helps release tension and improve flexibility. Just as importantly, prioritize sleep and nutrition, since both play a major role in tissue recovery and hormone balance. Think of rest as part of your training plan — not a reward for it. The more you honor recovery, the better your body performs, feels, and lasts.
