The University of South Carolina has named Dr. Jamie P. Dwyer dean of the University of South Carolina Kay and C. Edward Floyd, M.D. School of Medicine.

Dwyer currently serves as executive associate vice president for research and chief innovation officer at the University of Utah, where he also holds appointments as professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension and director of the Utah Data Coordinating Center. In these roles, he has led major institutional initiatives focused on clinical research infrastructure, innovation strategy, industry partnerships, entrepreneurship and the advancement of translational science. Caughman Taylor, MD ('83) Caughman Taylor, MD ('83)
Caughman Taylor, MD ('83), recently announced his retirement after more than three decades of dedicated service. He will step down at the end of the year from his roles as Academic Chair at the Floyd School of Medicine and Chair of Pediatrics at Prisma Health Children's Hospital - Midlands. A 1983 graduate of the Floyd School of Medicine, Dr. Taylor has been a respected physician, educator, and leader who has helped shape pediatric care and medical education across the Midlands. He will continue supporting the school in a non-clinical role in 2027, leaving behind a lasting legacy of excellence, mentorship, and commitment to children's health. Thank you for your extraordinary service, Dr. Taylor, and congratulations on this well-earned milestone!
Van Huynh, DNAP, CRNA ('25), was accepted into the Non-Surgical Pain Management (NSPM) fellowship at the University of South Florida. She will earn her NSPM certification in 2028, with the long-term goal of providing interventional procedures for chronic pain in rural Oregon to expand access for underserved communities. Congratulations on this exciting next step in your career!
Congratulations to the following alumni who were recently inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society: B. James McCallum, MD ('01), David Antonie, MD ('24), and Andrew Westfall, MD ('24). 
Andy Sides, MD ('06) received this year's Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. Only one faculty member is selected annually, and he is the first and only to earn this honor three times. Dr. Sides, congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
