 Looking Forward to Supporting U

While most faculty are winding down their spring courses and looking forward to summer break, the Martha Bradley Evans Center for Teaching Excellence and Digital Learning Technologies are already planning ahead for Fall 2024. In MBECTE, we will continue to offer professional development for instructors, such as regular workshops, consultation and observation services, and we will be starting our graduate certificate in Teaching in Higher Education. We’re also already in the process of planning our Annual Teaching Symposium on August 12 – this is a day-long conference on teaching that gets you ready for the academic year. Digital Learning will continue to offer Canvas and educational technology and equipment support. As we plan our events and offerings for 2024-25, we would love to have your input on topics and formats that would be helpful to you. Please help us by filling out a brief faculty survey on pedagogy and educational technology offerings for 2024-25.

 Incentivizing students to boost Student Course Feedback response rates.

The spring 2024 survey window for student feedback will run from April 15 – May 9. Student feedback is a critical component in our Teaching Excellence and Development Framework, and we are working to make that feedback as useful as possible for instructors, students, and administrators. Our efforts toward improving student feedback include:

  1. Working with the Academic Senate to change the scale for the instructor/course questions (effective this semester);
  2. Providing instructor resources for improving response rates; and
  3. Offering student incentives. After seeing improved response rates last semester, we’re extending our incentive plan to motivate students to participate! Two lucky students will have the chance to win a free iPad and AirPods. This initiative not only encourages active participation but also adds an element of fun to the feedback process. Learn more about the incentive plan here and share it widely with your colleagues and students. Let's work together to make this round of Student Course Feedback a resounding success!
